Doug Nelson, B.Comm. (Hons.), CFP, CLU, MFA, CIM, is a licensed financial planner and portfolio manager based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Established in 1966 by Vernon Nelson, Nelson Financial Consultants provides independent, fee-for-service financial services to professionals, executives, and business owners. Doug joined the family business in 1992 and specializes in tax-efficient retirement income planning strategies and portfolio risk management services.

The Nelson approach begins by recognizing that there are five primary "Killers of Wealth": taxes; inflation; fees; interest costs; and market volatility. By understanding those things that stand in the way of building sustainable wealth, all financial decisions are then focused on overcoming these obstacles. As a result, the Nelson approach is designed to help you Pay Less Tax, Take Less Risk, and Reduce Investment Fees, so that you Receive More Income (to make the most of each and every day) while allocating financial resources efficiently so as to Build More Wealth (for tomorrow).

To enhance the financial planning process, Doug is also a licensed portfolio manager with Nelson Portfolio Management Corp. This association gives Doug the ability to create low risk, customized portfolios that match the unique income, tax, and growth needs of his clients at a below-average cost.

Doug is also the author of Master Your Retirement: How To Fulfill Your Dreams with Peace of Mind.

Doug is a highly regarded public speaker and is quoted frequently in local and national media, including the Business News Network (BNN).
