NBI launches new portfolios and funds

National Bank Investments on June 23 announced five new exchange-traded funds and one new mutual fund.

• NBI Conservative ETF Portfolio (TSX: NCNS) aims for a high level of current income and some long-term capital appreciation.
• NBI Balanced ETF Portfolio (TSX: NBLD) targets current income and long-term capital appreciation.
• NBI Growth ETF Portfolios (TSX: NGRW) seeks long-term capital appreciation and some current income.
• NBI Equity ETF Portfolio (TSX: NEQT) aims for long-term capital appreciation.

To attain their investment objective, all NBI ETF Portfolios invest primarily in a diverse mix of ETFs and in ETF Series of mutual funds that invest in fixed-income and equity securities.

NBI Thematic Rotation ETF (TSX: NTHM) investment objective is to generate long-term capital growth by replicating, to the extent possible and before fees and expenses, the performance of a thematic rotation equity index that systematically rotates exposure among global equity themes. To do this, the NBI Thematic Rotation ETF invests, directly or indirectly through investments in securities of other mutual funds, in a portfolio composed primarily of equity securities of corporations located around the world.

NBI Systematic Sustainable World Equity Fund seeks long-term capital growth while following a sustainable approach to investing. The fund invests, directly or indirectly through investments in securities of other mutual funds, in a portfolio composed primarily of equity securities of companies located in developed markets around the world that are selected using quantitative models.

CIBC terminates ETF series of Sustainable Investment Strategies funds

CIBC on June 18 announced it will terminate the ETF series of the CIBC Sustainable Investment Strategies, on or about Nov. 27, 2026. The ETF series of the funds are expected to be de-listed from the Cboe CAN, at CIBC’s request, at the close of business on or about Nov. 25, 2026,

• CIBC Sustainable Canadian Core Plus Bond Fund – ETF Series (CBOE CAN: CSCP)
• CIBC Sustainable Canadian Equity Fund – ETF Series (CBOE CAN: CSCE)
• CIBC Sustainable Global Equity Fund – ETF Series (CBOE CAN: CSGE)
• CIBC Sustainable Conservative Balanced Solution – ETF Series (CBOE CAN: CSCB)
• CIBC Sustainable Balanced Solution – ETF Series (CBOE CAN: CSBA)
• CIBC Sustainable Balanced Growth Solution – ETF Series (CBOE CAN: CSBG)

SIMA releases April fund industry statistics

The Securities and Investment Management Association (SIMA) on June 17 announced investment fund net sales and net assets for May 2026.

Mutual fund assets totalled $2.735 trillion at the end of May, up by $87.5 billion, or 3.3%, since April. Mutual fund net sales were $2.9 billion in May.

ETF assets totalled $859.6 billion at the end of May, up by $42.3 billion, or 5.2%, since April. ETF net sales were $13.7 billion in May.

May insights

• Mutual fund and ETF assets both increased for the second consecutive month, with mutual funds rising by $188.7 billion over the last two months and ETFs rising by $88.6 billion.
• Mutual fund net sales remained positive in May, extending the industry’s streak of positive monthly net sales to 13 months. Bond funds recorded the strongest inflows.
• ETF net sales remained strong in May and were similar to April, while remaining well above last May’s level. Equity ETFs continued to account for most net sales.
