Susan Yates is the founder of CLIFE Inc., the Centre for Life Insurance and Financial Education (www.CLIFEce.ca). CLIFE provides online continuing education courses to life/A&S/general insurance agents and CFPs. The company specializes in providing timely courses relevant to the knowledge needs of financial advisors and agents, and currently provides a catalogue offering over 280 hours of Continuing Education (CE) credits. All courses are accredited by the Alberta Insurance Council, and CLIFE has blanket approval of courses in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Some courses are ADVOCIS- and RIBO-approved. The company is an approved provider of continuing education by the Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC), and meets all provincially regulated CE guidelines in provinces in which no formal accreditation process exists.
Susan is also contributing to the new Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) being developed by the Autorité des marchés financiers in association with CISRO (the Canadian Insurance Self-Regulatory Organization) and scheduled for rollout in 2015. She is both developing curriculum for the course and writing the new equivalent of the existing Financial Products Module, which will be called "Segregated Funds and Annuities." Susan is also developing an app for the new LLQP to help future students master learning concepts for success in their examinations.
Susan has worked on the education side of the financial services industry since 2000. She wrote and published the most widely used LLQP course and related study materials, developed a new mutual funds course (unpublished), and many IIROC (Cecap-approved) continuing education courses. She is co-author of the book RIGHT Answers: The Answers to 260 of Your Retirement Questions. Susan is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, is currently enrolled in the mutual funds course, and is writing new courses for CLIFE.
